FAQ

When is the best time to book my newborn photos?

The best time to book is well before baby arrives! I suggest contacting me while still pregnant to ensure there is a spot available. I can only accommodate a certain number of newborns per month so the earlier you secure your spot, the better! Typically I book 1-2 months in advance. However, if you just came across my website, and have a baby under 4 weeks, please contact me as I will do my best to accommodate you.

What is the best age to photograph my newborn?

The best age to photograph a newborn is between 5-14 days following birth. I usually aim for around day 10 if scheduling allows. During this time frame babies are more likely to sleep soundly when being repositioned, and they still have that beautiful baby “curl” we all love to see in photos!

What happens once I decide to book a session?

Once you have decided to book a newborn session, the retainer and contract will secure your booking. At that time, we will add you to our schedule approximately 7-10 days post your due date. Once baby arrives, we ask that you contact us as soon as possible so we can work together to find a day that works for you between that 5-14 day window. This is a crucial step in the process to get you those gorgeous, curly images that you’ll love and cherish forever! You will want to keep an open schedule until we nail down a date. Newborn sessions are held only on Monday through Fridays, around 9:30am.

Where does the newborn session take place?

All newborn sessions take place in my home studio located in Belleview, just outside of The Villages. This space has been optimized particularly for newborn sessions, and allows you full use of our many props, hats and headbands as well as a warm environment in which to pose these little ones.

Do you do newborn sessions in the comfort of our own home?

Yes and no. I do travel to your home for lifestyle sessions. Life style sessions are the perfect way to capture your new baby in your home in a relaxed way. ... No posing (either of the baby or family) is done in-home, no props, just gentle and relaxed direction, which allows for natural connection and interaction to occur. All family members are included.

I have older children who I would like photographed with my newborn. Can you accommodate this?

Yes! We ask that if you wish to have siblings photographed with your newborn, that you let us know PRIOR to the session. These photos are done at the beginning of the session, and if possible, we suggest that dad, friend, relative, drives separately and can take the children home/lunch/park after they are finished. Children do not tolerate the heat and length of a newborn session, and often become a distraction in the studio. Please keep in mind that although we will attempt sibling poses, this is not the focus of a newborn session. Please do not set expectations high for young children, as they may have difficulty following direction and are uncomfortable holding their new sibling.

Will we be able to take family photos at our newborn session?

Absolutely! Like the sibling photos, we do these at the beginning of the session. We’ll start with just mom and baby, then add dad and any siblings, and finish with just dad and baby. The goal here is to just get a couple of images as the focus again is on your newborn.
